![]() SPC Hawk displayed consistent and excellent initiative and reliability. SPC Hawk proved to be a natural leader and has continuously earned the trust and respect of his peers and supervisors. His ability to instantly pick up new skill sets, his attention to detail, and confident demeanor allowed him to instruct, guide, and mentor other project members, thus improving the efficiency of all members participating in the project. SPC Hawk's extraordinary work ethic and his ability to motivate himself and others resulted in a highly efficient, productive, and positive work environment. His versatility and technical understanding of network systems contributed to the design and composition of standard operating procedures, network topologies, and access management for end users and administrators which greatly improved standardization of all communication efforts and reliability in the future. SPC Hawk exhibited a high level of professional acumen and prioritized safety during project tasks, a commitment that resulted in zero safety accidents or incidents during the project. This effort created an improved network and technical footprint at the RSA, supporting higher network traffic speeds and more reliability and flexibility for any and all future mission requirements. SPC Hawk excelled in the successful installation of 420 feet of fiber optic cable, rewiring and validating 350 end user network outlets, and managing the installation of $18,000 worth of professional networking devices and approximately $10,000 worth of materials. SPC Hawk was key in planning and executing the installation, operation, and maintenance of an improved network infrastructure at the RSA, greatly improving the readiness and reliability of operations and digital communications for future All-Hazards events in the state. Without hesitation, Specialist (SPC) Mike Hawk voluntarily accepted the opportunity to take part in a long needed Network Upgrade at the Regional Staging Area (RSA). He was responsible for the Regional Hub Nodes (RHN) connectivity. SGT Hernandez was also a crucial member of the Anderson Air Force Base (AAFB), Guam (first duty station) automation team, supervising five buildings' connectivity of all equipment computer VOIP phones, printers, and switches. He was an essential part of the team, completing over 2,400 trouble tickets and over 500 account creations for NIPR, MPE, TAC SIPR, and CONUS SIPR networks. SGT Hernandez performed extraordinarily as the Help Desk support for G6. ![]() During his tenure, there were zero reportable COMSEC incidents and minimal downtime on tactical communications. ![]() He was also responsible for drawing, maintaining accountability, and destroying all COMSEC material within the OLEs and CPX exercises. SGT Hernandez set the standard for inventories, which is usually a SSG responsibility at CMD group, by developing a system that meticulously maintained 100 percent accountability of over 200 pieces of equipment and sensitive items valued at more than four million dollars. SGT Hernandez seamlessly covered the responsibilities and duties of the missions in Europe for the SVTC Communications to the DIV Section's OIC and NCOIC for nine months while running at 50% personnel strength, enabling communication in support of Operation Secure and DIV Readiness Training. SGT Hernandez was the cornerstone NCO enabling communications between rear Fort Campbell KY DIV Staff and forward DIV Staff to the United States European Command (EUCOM) supporting Operation Assure and Deter. As a result, in the CMD group, team signal equipment and operations increased passing rate from 80% to 90%. He developed Soldiers through coaching and mentoring three subordinates, one peer, and ten senior leaders in the use and maintenance of the network operations communications equipment from the DIV CMD group in support of three Operation Lethal Eagle (OLE) exercises and one Command Post Exercise (CPX). SGT Hernandez contributed to the CG's top priorities as Executive Communication representative NCO.
